  • Assemble the Vitamix blender. Place the container securely on top of the motor station, with the blade inside. Make sure the blade is firmly in place before setting the container on the motor. Depending on the model, the blender will have a one- or two-piece lid. If you have the one-piece lid, just set it aside for later. With the two-piece lid, it is important to insert the center circular plastic into the rubber doughnut-shaped component.
  • Pour 2 cups peanuts into the blending container, close the lid and blend for approximately two-and-a-half minutes until the peanuts are very finely chopped. If you have a variable speed Vitamix, use level five or six continuously. This setting is generally of greater power than most blenders include, making the Vitamix overall a superior device for making peanut butter.
  • Open the lid, and stir the contents of the blending bowl. Replace the lid, and continue blending until the peanuts are entirely ground. Move any untouched peanuts to the tips of the blade so they have a chance to be chopped up as much as possible. Stop when you feel the desired consistency has been nearly reached.
  • Add 1 1/2 tbsp. vegetable oil and salt to taste to make the peanut butter creamy.
